October Festivities in St Ives

The spooky month of October is well under way – already we’ve had all sorts of fantastic music events and other festivals in the area. The Booze on the Ouse Beer and Cider Festival, Octoberfest in Truro and the fabulous Kernow Unite charity concert have all proven to be big hits.

You’d think that after more than two weeks of jam-packed frivolities, we’d be ready for a rest – but that’s where you’d be wrong! There’s still plenty going on in St Ives and the surrounding area over the last couple of weeks in October – here’s what you can look forward to.

We’re just days away from Halloween now and with it comes plenty of fun, family-friendly activities. Paradise Park, Cornwall’s wildlife sanctuary, is having a fancy dress party on the 28th October, complete with spooky disco. From the 22nd until the 30th the ‘Owl Prowl’ trail is available, giving your little ones the chance to explore the grounds at night in order to hunt out the clues that these nocturnal creatures have been around. There’s always plenty to see and do at Paradise Park – it’s worth a visit even just to get up close to the some 650 birds that live there!

Play the blues

Join ‘The Producers’ for a real celebratory performance on the 28th October at the Acorn Theatre in Penzance. Drive just 20 minutes from your St Ives base and enjoy an evening of fabulous live music that coincides with the band’s 25th anniversary. The award-winning blues band will be playing their classics, we’re sure, as well as tunes from their gutsy new album. Whether you’re a fan already or not, this is guaranteed to be a great evening.

All that jazz

Cornwall is really spoiling us this month when it comes to musical offerings – the Josh Kemp Quartet will be performing at the St Ives Jazz Club on the 25th October. The saxophonist and composer will be playing music from his newest CD, offering a high-energy performance that we’re sure will get your feet tapping. Josh has been lauded by the critics, so don’t miss out.

There you have it – just a few of our favourite upcoming events to pop into your diaries. If you want to join in with the festivities, then book your stay at St Ives Harbour Hotel – it’s the perfect place to unwind after a night of dancing or owl hunting! Get in touch today to secure your room.
