April in St Ives
A picture speaks a thousand words, right? A quick image search for St Ives and we think it’s evident why you’d want to pack your bags and head to our idyllic coastal town as soon as you physically could. It’s got everything – a bustling high street, some of the best fish and chips around and the lush sound of lapping waves.
However, in case you still needed some additional persuading, we’ll add a few more words to that thousand. St Ives is packed full of things to get up to in April and we’ve put together a handy guide to some of the ‘musts’ for the month. You’re welcome!
Easter Beer Festival
One for the adults, St Ives Easter Beer Festival is a bit of an institution. Ask any local (or regular visitor) and they’ll tell you that it’s a highlight of the calendar. This year features more than 50 real ales and ciders from breweries in Cornwall and all over the country, and is a true celebration of the increasingly popular brewing movement in the UK. Organised by The Castle Inn and taking place from 14th until 17th April, it’s a great chance to get involved with town life and to find a new favourite tipple.
There are several regular markets in St Ives and all are worth a visit if you’re the kind of person who loves hunting for those special ‘not on the high street’ items. St Ives Farmers’ Market takes place every Thursday at the Guildhall and is filled to the brim with local produce – and by local, we mean that the business itself has to be based within a 30-mile radius of St Ives. There’s also the Collectables Market in the same location every Monday. Stalls include postcards, stamps, jewellery and all other sorts of interesting bits and bobs – perfect for the bargain hunters among us. On Wednesdays, the Guildhall is home to a general market featuring craft stalls, clothing and accessories. If you like your purchases to have personality then we guarantee you’ll find something at the Guildhall!
If you’ve got little ones to entertain during your April getaway then the Boathouse Theatre has got you covered. A puppet show of Little Red Riding Hood will be showing at the traditional theatre, offering some good old-fashioned family entertainment that we’re sure the kids will be captivated by. There are regular showings, so head to http://www.boathousetheatre.com/shows/ to find out more.
So, have we sealed the deal for you? If yes, then get in touch with the team at St Ives Harbour Hotel to book a table for that fish and chips we mentioned earlier and to secure your room.
