What Is There To Do For Teenagers In St Ives?

Let’s not beat around the bush – teenagers aren’t always incredibly keen to head on holiday with their families. Even though they’ve got weeks to enjoy time with friends, once they’ve got their own social circles fully set up they’d often rather stay at home than be seen enjoying themselves with their old folks or siblings.

However, never fear! We know that the annual family holiday is important to you and, fortunately, we’re able to help keep the teens on side. St Ives has plenty to offer for all ages – here’s what your not so little ones can get up to while they’re here.

On the water
Head to the beach and you’ll quickly come to realise that it’s pretty much the place to be if you’re a youngster. In St Ives your water-loving teens can learn how to stand-up paddleboard (SUP, for short – in case you were wondering), take an adventure tour at sunset or dawn on the water, improve their sailing technique, and, of course, master the art of standing up on a surfboard.

As long as you feel like they’re old enough, then give the teenagers some free time to have their own adventures. They could walk from St Ives to Lelant in just over an hour – why not arrange to meet them there for a Cornish ice cream or pick them up and then enjoy afternoon tea together while they tell you about what they saw en route? Provided they’ve got fully charged mobile phones, there’s no reason why they can’t enjoy a little bit of time getting to know the area for themselves.

While you hit the art galleries, the teenagers can spend a good few hours just relaxing at the hotel. Treat under 16s to a junior spa treatment and the over 16s can enjoy any of the St Ives Harbour Hotel spa packages and deals. We also have it on good authority that even the most sullen of teens can’t say no to a Cornish clotted cream tea in the sun…

Think you’ll be dealing with complaints of ‘I’m bored’ when you head away together? Think again. St Ives is so vibrant and active that it’s the ideal place for children of all ages. To book your family getaway, get in touch with the team at St Ives Harbour Hotel.
